phpBB Meet the Team

Post by ckwalsh » Thu Jul 16, 2009 6:40 pm

As discussed on the phpBB blog, the phpBB Teams are glad to announce a new feature in the phpBB Discussion forum entitled "Meet The Team". This series is focused on helping you, the end user, learn a bit more about us, the programmers, supporters, moderators, and designers that make phpBB what it is.

What sort of questions can I ask?
We would like to remind you that as mentioned in the blog, we are looking for non-phpBB related questions. This series is for introducing the people behind the ranks and avatars. While questions such as "What direction do you hope phpBB takes?" are interesting, they will be ignored in favour of questions that match this goal. In addition, questions that are overly invasive into the privacy of team members will be skipped.

How often can I ask a question?
In order to allow everyone a chance to ask questions, we would like to request you ask no more than one question per Q & A session. This limit may be changed as circumstances change, and we will update you in this post and in the topic if it does.

When will my question be answered?
After a suitable number of questions have been collected, they will be sorted and posted to the teams so that those who wish to participate may do so. After giving the teams a reasonable amount of time to answer, will we post their answers for your consumption and enjoyment.

Why didn't you answer my question?
If your question is missed in a "Meet the Team" entry, please understand that we may not be able to get to everybody's questions; some may need to hold some over to the next session. If your question does not make it into the next session and has not already been covered by a similar question, you are welcome to re-post it.

You can just hide in the shadows whenever I lob a question, then.

This needs to be settled once and for all. Conflicting information has appeared over the years.

Anyone who has tried to give a proper answer to that has suddenly resigned the team to deal with their lives.. ;)

OK, there's something that's a burning issue to me:

Some of you guys regularly mention that you also have a real life. Now, that makes me conclude that phpBB is not part of your real life, but what is it then? Is it just virtual? Does this mean, developing phpBB is also virtual and not real? Is all of this an illusion, or even an imaginary plot? Does this mean my site doesn't exist for real, too? Is this fiction? Are we lost?

Sorry, my imagination ran riot ... that has been more than one question - oooops  - just being curious

I would like to know what everyone does for fun (free time I guess?). Sports, girls / guys night out, etc.

As my legitimate question got unceremoniously dumped into a locked thread, I'll repost it. Tell us about your backgrounds and how (or whether) they got you interested in phpBB.
