Stop Forum Spam

Postby anybloodyid » Tue Jan 26, 2010 10:10 am

Not sure if this where to post this or not but I thought it would be of interest to other phpBB users

We catch a lot of spammers trying to register on forums. And we post their details here.

We currently have information on 628999 spammers since about December 2006. Here is the last 12 hours worth of spammers caught in our traps. Or enter an IP address, email address, or username below to search.

This list is updated every five minutes

Stop Forum Spam was recently featured on the phpBBweekly podcast. The guys interviewed the two founders and chief operators of the system.

Great Place. :)

There is a MOD for intergration into phpBB here: viewtopic.php?f=70&t=1349145

and this MOD: ... f=31&t=941 by eXtraction also has a feature to allow integration with that site.

I find it's actually a decent service to integrate with, and I've been quietly working it into one of the boards I run. What spammers get by the CAPTCHA are flagged because of StopForumSpam, and are manually reviewed.

Better than a DNS blacklist, IMO, because you can check for email/username/IP patterns and judge for yourself.

The next version of my Ban Hammer has automatic Stop Forum Spam reporting. :)

I agree with Desdenova, it is better than a DNS blacklist.
