Re: [Libertyvasion] T-Shirt Design "contest"

Post by Christian 2.0 » Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:49 pm

Finding a balance between not just "slapping a logo on a shirt" and maintaining some level of professionalism turned out to be trickier than first anticipated. Here is a concept I had in mind this evening:
Image
Logo (larger): http://i45.tinypic.com/10zviug.jpg

or if you prefer landscape:
Image
Logo (larger): http://i50.tinypic.com/i2q29t.jpg

The globe image was sourced from here, and is allowed for any use with no conditions. I had to whip the pen tool out to draw the little guys around the globe (so no copyright issues there). The .psds are around 3000x1500px at 300 dpi with transparent backgrounds so the quality will be fine for print (in the unlikely event you choose my design).

I thought about a back design, although couldn't come up with much more than just a bertie so didn't bother. To be honest I wasn't so sure about the design at first, although having sat and looked at it for some time you can just see a team member walking around some expo hall with it on, and not looking out of place.

Open to feedback. :)

Please note that the initial post has been updated and now includes vector versions of the phpBB logo for your convenience, as well as a note about the image quality of entries. I have reproduced the text of the edit below; to download the referenced attachments, please see the initial post in this topic.
Attached is a zip file containing .ai and .eps versions of the phpBB™ logo. The archive includes both the silver logo (typically used, suitable for dark backgrounds), and an alternate blue logo, suitable for light backgrounds. Please note that these logos are, at this point in time, made available only for use in this design contest -- a general use logo page will be made available on phpBB.com in the near future.

When submitting your entry, please do remember that it may be printed on a t-shirt. As a result, it should be (ideally) in an alternate vector format. If this is not possible, please ensure that a high resolution copy of your design is available that is suitable for scaling to t-shirt dimensions.

I like this. Can you re-do the phpBB logo and wording to coincide with the graphics that have been provided in the first post? Also the "tm" should still be in the phpBB logo.

Here's the revision David :)

Image
Larger (23% of original): http://i50.tinypic.com/978qxz.png

As well as replacing the logo, I've fixed a couple of guys on the left hand side. On the original concept two of them weren't quite holding hands right. The Logo could probably be do with being nudged down a few pixels. Let me know what you think. :)

Thanks to jonny-b, mr Topatoe and Callum for the feedback too. :)

Is it me or are the men lopsided?

They are just a bit. Moving them all to the right just a little bit will straighten them out.

Noticed the "lopsided" men too, this should be better:

Knew there'd be some niggly things to iron out. :)

I really like the design, but the shirt looks kind of "girlie" to me. Do you think we could try it on a black shirt? The contrast might make all the difference.

We could even run it both ways.

Sure thing :) - I've come up with two variations of the "dark" version:

Colour on black:

Grey/Silver on black:
