I use mainly: Komodo edit, vim and the editor in "flow" (ftp client) for development. But I've got a bunch of additional apps for specific languages or development types.
phpBuilderBob wrote:hmm.. have you heard of phpDesigner7? I use it, supports projects, loads fast, veeeery handy features. It also has a potable edition you can buy.
I've used a phpDesigner at some point but found it way to clunky/slow/memory hog to even consider using it longer. And by the looks of it "7" is a windows only so thats a no go to begin with ;)

Komodo Edit + Ubuntu Linux + PHP + MySQL + Apache. If it is something small/one-off, I'll use nano.

Komodo edit here as well. I actually like Zend Studio for Eclipse a little better, but it's a huge memory hog. Komodo Edit is nice and light, with great features. (and free)

This is what I dislike about most fancy IDEs, yes they come with some nice features (like zend studio/phpDesigner/etc) but they kill your pc especially when you're not running a real powerhouse.

Meh...I use Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 if I'm really into it. With the Vs.php add-in it's awesome to debug, use intelli-sense, etc. For quick edits I just use Notepad++

If I had 8Gigs to play with, it might not be a big deal, but my intel chip is limited to 2 Gigs, so I have to be memory couscous.

No offense to anyone, but...ew?

I used VS a couple months ago, and I REALLY didn't like it.

It's actually a very functional IDE. If nothing else, IntelliSense is one of the best code-completion systems I've used.

To each his own obviously ;)
For me it works perfectly fine and I can still flip-flop between my VB, C#, and PHP projects all in one IDE. Plus the IntelliSense for PHP is just riddiculously awesome. Imagine having all function definitions for phpBB available with the entering of a few characters and then auto-completion of them. Can't beat that IMO :geek:

Mind you I've been using VS since the VB6 days so I'm quite used to it by now.

Hahaha, I saw the VS.php video you linked to. I might actually switch. :D
