phpBB Weekly is coming to www.phpbb.com

Post by Phil » Tue Aug 17, 2010 4:06 am

Hello,

As you may be aware, phpBB community member Douglas Bell (webmacster87) is leaving his long-time phpBB-oriented podcast at the end of August.

Sam (SyntaxError90) and I will be taking over the phpBB Weekly podcast, effective September 1st. The podcast will be given a new home on www.phpbb.com and will cease to be recorded live. A release schedule will be announced in the coming weeks, however we currently plan to record episodes twice each month.

We would like to continue treating phpBB Weekly as a community podcast and welcome community members to participate as guests or contribute thoughts and ideas for episodes.

So, what would you like to see discussed on phpBB Weekly #163, the first episode of phpBB Weekly hosted by SyntaxError90 and me? Feel free to post below with your thoughts, suggestions or any other ideas.

Additionally, if you are interested in being a guest on the show, please PM me with a discussion topic suggestion.

Thanks,

~Phil

It's great that 'Weekly is being kept alive, and although it's sad to see Douglas and David discontinuing it, it's great to see it being picked up by Phil and Sam. Maybe I'll be a guest a time or two. :D

Anyway, I'd love to hear a debriefing of Libertyvazion for #163, as well as some talk about 3.1, or any announcements that come out between now and then. :)
Don't forget to smile today. :)

As david said. Its a shame that Douglas and David are stopping presenting the show however I think Phil and Sam will do a great job of filling their shoes (and they are pretty big shoes at that).

For #163 as david also said perhaps a summary of what happened at libertyvasion. That will probably fill up most the show. Although perhaps some talk about what you plan to be doing with the show.

Well don't forget David and I are going to be doing our last show (live) on Saturday, August 28, where we'll definitely be debriefing Libertyvasion. Though Sam and Nathan may be better able to debrief the event from the teams' perspective.

Sorry, I forgot about that. Really to be able to find out what to talk about you need to look at it just before the show at what has happended before the show.

For you we know we might have a new UMIL, AutoMOD, MODX, QuickInstall, MODX Creator, Support Toolkit or phpBB Release between Lvasion.

EDIT: Just realised for the most recently weekly episode you said 'will announce it in the blog if you haven't already worked it out' when phil and sam were guests on the show. Nice hint.

I'm pretty sure announcements/releases/etc will be covered no matter what the main topic of the show is ;).

Speaking of which, due to scheduling issues, this final episode will be an hour earlier than normal -- at 12 PM EDT/1600 UTC. Just like it was when we first started the podcast 3+ years ago. :)

Just been listening to douglas's and david's last episode and it was certianly a good send-off. 17 listeners and about about 6-7 team members (I think).

Everyone in the chat was crying including douglas.

Good luck phil and sam, you certainly have some big shoes to fill.
