phpBB Weekly Episode #165

Post by Phil »

Hello,

Sam and I are proud to announce the release of phpBB Weekly Episode #165, the next installment of the "under new management" version of phpBB Weekly.

This episode includes an interview with ckwalsh of the Moderator Team about his Drupal bridge, the first of (hopefully many) such integrations, and bridges in general.

Like Episode #164, this episode features both a MOD and style of the week. We would also like to encourage you to submit your suggestions for MOD and style of the week for future episodes.

Style of the Week - ModernUI (under development)
MOD of the Week - Topic Multi-Moderation and Topic Prefixes

As always, we appreciate any feedback you may have; pease post any questions/comments/discussion ideas you have in this topic. Additionally, please contact Sam or myself if you'd like to be a guest on the podcast at any point in the future.

Unfortunately, the phpBB Weekly website is not yet ready for additional episodes--as such, this episode is being released on phpBB.com only and will not be included in iTunes' podcast feed. Episodes should be available on phpbbweekly.net in the near future.

Enjoy the episode!
-Phil and Sam

Great episode. Although after the ending music there was an "awesome". I'm assuming that shouldn't be there?

Since Phil mentioned that he wasn't sure how the two features in the Topic Multi-Moderation & Topic Prefixes MOD were related, I thought I would clarify how the two features came to be in the same MOD.

The Topic Multi-Moderation feature is native to Invision Power Board, and one of the features is to be able to add HTML markup to the start and end of the topic title. Rather than having to mess with the raw HTML stuff, I figured it would be easier to just allow someone to add a color-able prefix to the start. And at that point, why not allow multiple prefixes? :P

To be honest, the two features are easy to separate into two different MODs, so I could just release the topic prefixes portion standalone, if needed. However, I just felt that they sort of fit together nicely.

I plan on a rewrite for 3.1, although I'm not sure if I want to keep the two features together or split them into their own MODs that can then be plugged into each other as needed (shouldn't be too difficult). :)

Anyway, just thought I'd explain, since they seemed a bit unsure. :)
