Obviously someone has something to gain by people upgrading. I guess I should wait for a 3.0.9 emergency security release?
Unless I am very much mistaken, the email says:
For any assisstance please reply to us , we will be very happy to assisst you
That's the pitch, and it's obviously a scam.

Does this fix the mass email problem? I've not found any solutions to this as of yet...!

I use a special style for my forum " 1Blackout " ==> (prosilver) 3.0.7-pl1
now i want update the forum from 3.0.7 -PL1 to 3.0.8
but i changed some details in " 1BlackOut " style
and I want to maintain these modifications

can i update my forum without updating style??

and if it must be updated .. Should I start first edit prosilver(default) style only ( With science: when i updated my forum from 3.0.7 -pl1 to 3.0.8 ) is already will be automatically updated

and when i edit the " 1Blackout " style ( some codes There is the difference between " prosilver default and 1balckout style )

Now do I update the Forum without updating Style??
And had to be just, how to edit, where and what is the file??

This will not fix the problem in already existing posts. In order to scan your board for malicious posts we have created a scanning script. Simply upload it to your phpBB's root directory and access it directly.
Is this scanning script only needed when you don't update, and is it included in the auto-updater? Or do I still need to run this script after/before updating?

Obscurity != security.
I wasn't too excited to get the update announcement on a Sunday morning; but learned, the hard way, to stop and make the software updates ASAP. If you have ever had your board or website attacked, you will understand. It ain't fun to recover from an 'all out' attack.

I also got one of these emails. But, I had already been working in my ACP and did the update earlier. The headers on the email made it untraceable, so I didn't even bother forwarding it to you guys. Oddly enough, the email address it was sent to had nothing to do with the forums here or my install. It was an old address. I change my board email addresses often.

I encourage anyone that received any such emails to report them to Google as they seem to be originating from their GMail service:

For future reference, you could always follow the code changes for prosilver. For the most part, they are the same. ;)
