@dellsystem : +1, but maybe a lighter gradient, because otherwise it stands off too much against #ECF1F3.

Maybe something like "Try our Documentation" for the subtext would be better? It seems like it would be nice to directly indicate somewhere that the "advertisement" is directly pertaining to the documentation and not some misc. help resource or similar.
The main text in Dell's images already says "Documentation" in nice large print, so I'm not sure why the subtext should say it, too (that just seems redundant). If they mistake "Documentation" for some help resource in the main text, they'll probably do the same in the subtext.

My suggestion would look like:
Documentation
Confused about phpBB? Start here.
It's meant as a subtle prompt to RTFM. :D

However, even if the user does mistake it for a help resource, when they click the link, they'll presumably see a large headline saying something like:
phpBB Documentation
With luck, they'll get the hint. ;) The important thing is to get them to click the link, not necessarily figure out exactly what kind of documentation they'll be seeing, right?

Nice. I would change the skull to a stop sign with the same size.

I made the background gradient and text shadow a bit lighter, as suggested, and changed the text for the documentation one (two versions - one as per Phil's suggestion and one as per Pony99CA's). I'm worried about it being too light - the subtext is difficult to see, although I suppose I could make it black or something. Thoughts? Also, subtext suggestions for "Get involved"?

I agree that it's too light. What would happen if you made the font bolder instead of darker, though?

Just for clarity's sake, I seem to have misinterpreted your remark. I understood you to be suggested a headline/subtext combination (each a separate sentence), hence my suggestion.

dellsystem's image shows what I had in mind/thought you mean.

I love those warning, not too sure about Image though.

Also I think this may be a bug, the ➚➚ is covered by the image when viewing the thread. This may happen on other threads as well (ones that got long title)
Please note that I will not be porting any of my mods to phpBB 3.1. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

I don't have a solution for this, but it should affect very few topics

Dido. The bomb doesn't caught the eyes like the exclamation triangleImage
or the X shield
Image.
I'll also suggest to add a red border or orange to those ones(like mixstar did), It'll be more effective.

Gorgeous. I'd suggest adding rounded corners to match the rest of the site.

The scam warning was a good idea. It's short and to the point.

Showcase and Styles/MOD database links may be advantageous.

Given that the number of links are increasing, it might be worth removing some of the duplicates with different icons to give others a better chance of exposure.

Neat little feature though. :)
