He was asking for 3.0.10-RC3, not 3.0.9.

So I updated to 3.0.10 using the auto update since I have mods and it reinstalled subsilver2 files! :? I deleted subsilver2 since I have no intention of using it or any subsilver2 base styles. I have 2 active styles beside prosilver and both are prosilver base styles since I have a couple of mods that did not bother to have any subsilver2 edits. Anyway, I got rid of it and I've updated twice before (3.0.8 & 3.0.9) and the auto update never reinstalled subsilver2. But sure enough, after 3.0.10, I look at my files and I had a subsilver2 folder and I can see it in my ACP but it's not active. What is different with the auto update for 3.0.10?

Hello,
the new
Mass email $max_chunk_size
setting is great! The formerly hardcoded value of 50 was absolutely too high for absolutely most of phpBB using webmasters. IMO the default value should be 1. At least if you are sending personalized mass emails - e.g. using

Code: Select all

{USERNAME}
- then you have to set it to 1.

Let's add more core features to the phpBB core package! :)

You've never managed a board with more than a few thousand members, have you? 0_o

Sending an email to 10,000 users 1 at a time would take days.
macr.ae = my website. you probably won't like it.

Hello callum,
you are right: I'm not administering a phpBB board with several 10.000 users.
But I have good skills and a lot of experience in different SMTP and mail servers. That's part of my job. Good SMTP servers are able to handle much more emails per day. Maybe phpBB is not fast enough to do it? I don't know. I'm not a professional web application programmer.
The max_chunk_size setting is not a solution. It's a workaround. Or to see it from the other site: It's a tuning feature which you can use only if your email provider allows it.
And I know that a lot of email providers are not allowing 50 email recipients per email outbound. Most of free email services don't allow it. Also other email providers like AOL are blocking these emails inbound.
I'm quite sure that the personalized mass e-mail thing has not been the reason to give the formerly hard-coded setting a place on the ACP page. I'm quite sure that the tons of support topics about problems with sending mass e-mails are the reason.

So are good spammers. And good ISPs don't want any spammers, so they implement rate limits.

Hello Dog Cow,
yes, you are right! But most of free email providers and some of non-free email providers don't allow 50 recipients. So this default value is (has been) to high.

What's it mean when there is a blank with the code changes/differences page ?
http://code.phpbb.com/projects/phpbb/re ... v_to=11285

or
http://code.phpbb.com/projects/phpbb/re ... v_to=11285

I clicked from http://www.phpbb.com/support/code-chang ... r-template
I'm not reporting a bug. if it's human error, no biggie.

The changes made to those files ended up being reverted, and the script generating the list didn't check for that and flagged the file as modified. The pages have been updated.

I don't know if this is the right place, but if I posted in the wrong place then move the post or delete it.

I find one thing that could be misleading and that's in the moderator control panel (MCP) with the tab on the right that has the text "Display Option". The text has nothing to do with viewing a post/topic in ascending/descending order imo. Instead the text could be like "Timestamp Option" or similar since you can't change the post icon and only the ascending/descending order. If you want to change the post icon then you need to do that in the Split Post tab. :)

Why I mention this is because I was a moderator in a specific forum section for almost 6 months and at first I was confused, but now I know better why I was confused. :?

Thanks for a great job with this version and I'm looking forward for the next release. :P
