How to update the phpbb version from 1.2.5 to 1.2.6? Just overwrite files and no additional code changes?

This is for MODX, not phpBB. If you have a MOD then, besides the update indicated in the announcement to the install.xml for your MOD, you would have to get the MODX xsl file from the MODX Resource Center (also indicated in the announcement) and replace the one included in your MOD with the latest version.

Yes, they are sort of in the middle. There will be a 1.2.6 version of the phpBB version to download tomorrow. And then you can just overwrite all included files, don't forget to purge the cache.

Offline and phpBB versions of the MODX Creator are updated and working.
Just overwrite all included files and purge your cache.

If you are refering to this, then no. That is a completely separate and unaffiliated software. When you see "MODX" on this website, it is in reference to the MOD install file.
