Couldn't you use CSS to do a Z-order overlay of the "correct" logo over the other one? Alternatively, couldn't you use JavaScript to do a DOM update of the logo?

Or use display:none to hide the <img> element. :)

Technically you can, although I was keen not to throw too many new things at the original user. There's already WP-United style integration, with our own CSS overrides. Chucking in extra jQuery at this stage seems like trying to run before we can walk. :)

Ok guys... So I received a bit of advice on how to possibly do this.

I set up 6 blank Wordpress pages that display the correct stylings.

Example: http://www.critterhub.com/amphibian/forum

Now, supposedly I can use something like this in the WP-United/wordpress-runner.php file:

Code: Select all

global $user;
$phpbb_style_id = $user->style;

if($phpbb_style_id == 1) {
 $forum_page_ID = xx
} else if($phpbb_style_id == 2) {
 $forum_page_ID = xx
And that should bring up the correct styling depending on which section of the site you're in.

Does this sound right?

try it and see. although I don't believe that is what christian was talking about.

there are no forum pages ids in phpbb

there are links like: viewforum.php?f=2
the f stands for forum and the 2 is the forum ID

Not all JavaScript has to be jQuery. ;) That would probably be overkill to replace one DOM element.

Didn't say it was :) . Though with jQuery you can accomplish in 1 line what raw JavaScript can accomplish in 10 :P .

Really? Here's a line of jQuery:

Code: Select all

$('#elem').css('display', 'none');
And here is that line of code written in native javascript:

Code: Select all

document.getElementById('elem').style.display = 'none';
FYI, the native javascript version will execute in an order or two magnitude less time than the jQuery version. ;)

Outside of its form-prep and non-CORS AJAX functions, I've found that jQuery causes more problems (laggy page loads and performance) than it solves (simplified code), and I prefer to use native javascript.
