I meant for MODs in general, downloaded from here.

However as far as WP-United is concerned, if you download the phpBB-only archive from their site (http://www.wp-united.com/get-wp-united/ -> scroll down to "phpBB-only package"), then you would upload that whole .zip into AutoMOD and install.

Just gave it a quick try. Works great. :)

So i dont need to manually upload any files into the phpbb3/store/mods directory?

Accoring to the 'installing mods with AutoMOD' tutorial that Jessica linked, i would need to manually upload the MOD files to 'store/mods' before i can install with AutoMOD.

You are saying that i dont need to manually upload the files to my directory, i can simply just upload the .zip into automod and it does the work for me?

Correct, you can just upload the .zip
You don't upload the mod files to store/mods

within automod there is the option to upload a zip file. click the button to browse your computer for the zip file and then follow the on screen instructions to finish the MOD install. depending on the MOD you are installing, there may be manual steps you will need to take. be sure to read everything that shows up on the screen and do every step it tells you to do.

personally, I never use it because some severs do not allow unzipping that way and/or they mess it up.

however, if it works for you that is fine.
only way to find out is to try it.

luck,
robert

I will try it after work tonight.

This works for any mod?
Now im curious. i had troubles manually installing the 'buttons menu MOD' mainly because the code i had to edit did not exist because of changes ive done to my header.

Would automod be able to sort this out for me?

no, not every MOD will work with automod or with the built in zip uploading feature.

sometimes automod will be able to give you options of how to proceed when it can't find the relevant code in your files. sometimes you will simply have to do some or all of the MOD manually and sometimes you will simply have to try things to see if they work or not.

it is always best to make a complete backup of the files and database before any MOD install.

that way, if things go haywire you are never more than a couple of clicks away from complete recovery.

Thanks for the help guys, i got it installed and working... now my next question you may not be able to help...

I integrated wordpress inside phpBB. Now i was assuming that there would be a phpbb "theme" installed into wordpress so that my wordpress blog etc would match the look of my phpbb style... this is not the case. is this possible to do? Is it hard? etc

thanks

If you've got WP-United instlled on both the Wordpress & phpBB sides, you'll need to ask in the MOD Support topic for usage information (as I can see you already have done).

Providing MOD specific instructions is beyond the scope of these support forums.

What makes you think that? It's not true.
Some users install a MOD to integrate phpBB with WordPress.

that is a strange thing to say? what difference does it make what blog software phpbb.com uses for it's blog?

you are free to use any blog software you want on your site or none at all .
they have not added any blog software to phpbb. they are just using wp here on this site and have apparently integrated it with the phpbb installation here on this site. not with the phpbb software.

not sure what you are talking about here.

Some users install a MOD to integrate phpBB with WordPress.
And those mods work really well if done right :)
Please note that I will not be porting any of my mods to phpBB 3.1. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

Using wordpress when needing a blog is pretty much the only sane thing the phpBB team could do. It does what it is supposed to do as a blog, its maintained, etc, etc. Sure the team could step up and write their own blog software but that would eat up only the already limited time they have developing and supporting phpBB.
