Love this 'Idea'. I had a quick look at what's required to get it up and running on our own boards, is it right that we can indeed do that? Anytime I've ever looked at anything on github I never understand it as I've never used it.

Anyway, it should hopefully keep PHPBB moving forward and keeping up with the times.

Yep! It's easier to install than most mods, as it doesn't require and file modifications - you just copy in the ideas directory and follow the instructions.

Cool. One issue I've noticed.

When I hit 'Preview', it posts rather than previews. :)
Google chrome / Win 7 64bit.

EDIT: Also, where do the 'ideas' topics actually get posted? I noticed they appear here on the community forum, but which part are they being posted in?

Is this when posting a new idea or replying to an idea?

Is there a list of ideas/features that have already been approved? A simple list without having to wade through a whole forum.
A thread is pretty much a topic. Stop with the pedantics will ya.

You can view all ideas post into phpBB Ideas that have been marked as implemented: https://www.phpbb.com/ideas/list.php?status=3

However, I can't imagine that being too useful for at least a few more months - right now you are going to have to go through the forums on Area51 or the tracker.

By "Implemented", it means that it has been written and merged, but not necessarily released - so if I write a feature for the next version of phpBB, I will mark the idea as implemented as soon as the code is merged, not when the next version is released (which would be a nightmare).

LOL, OK i'll take your word for that.
It's when posting a NEW idea. Click 'Preview' and it actually 'Posts'. It's just done it again actually...

I haven't tried preview when replying to any as of yet, I'll post up here if/when I do.

Fair enough :) There's this too http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic ... 81&t=35709 which is useful. (if kept upto date)
Just thinking there might be alot of requests for things already in the pipeline, or is this more of how popular things are?

We did some thinking and are leaning toward only removing ideas once they are released (not just implemented) as there will otherwise be continuous duplicate submissions.

This is an excellent idea and a step forwards for phpBB. Well executed too. :)

A few suggestions of my own:
- Perhaps show the replies to each "suggestion" on the index
- Add "new idea" button to very top of page
- Give users the ability to keep their "vote" anonymous
- The links to actually "give" a rating / vote should be made more obvious. Eg: Thumbs Up / Thumbs down

That is all. Good work so far. :)
