If your host won't upgrade so you have a serious issue: php 5.3.3 was released the 22, July 2010 I let you imagine the number of security issues discovered and actively since this date....

For phpBB, the 3.0 branch should be supported for something like 1 year but it's not fixed and could be more or less.

You should definitely contact your hosting service and point them to PHP: Unsupported Branches, which lists PHP 5.2 reaching end-of-life (EOL) 6 Jan 2011 or 3 years, 10 months ago. Heck, even PHP 5.3 is now EOL.

I would be strongly suggesting to the hosting provider to move to one of the PHP: Supported Versions.

Yeah, I told the guy who handles the hosting.
(we have different admins that handle different areas, I take care of doing the upgrades, handling the mods, and things like that. Another deals with all the hosting stuff.)

If you tell us who this is, I am happy to send an email and politely ask them to get their stuff in order.

According to this post

Eagerly awaiting 3.1.2 as there are a number of show-stopper bugs in 3.1.1 that are preventing me from considering upgrading our live forums to phpBB 3.1.
