Email Notifications

Post by HiFiKabin »

Is anyone else having problems with email notifications from this forum?

I usually get emails on replies, quotes and PM's, but not today. My email account is working correctly (ie, I am getting emails from other sources) there are absolutely no SPAM filters employed, the email address is on my own hosting, and I have not altered any settings either here or on my hosting.

I have had 16 notifications today which should have generated an email, but no email has arrived. My 'Notification' counter has logged them all on the forum software.

Check your notification options in UCP just to be sure. I have e-mail notifications turned off, so I couldn't tell you if they are working or not.

I have everything turned off except for PMs and no email for that one. I would like to be able to turn off the notifications for PMs as well so they don't show up in the notifications link and the PM link both.
hmmm, I havent' tried just turning off the notifications for PMs to see it they still how up in the link for PMS.
I think I will try that.

I've double-double checked the settings, and they are correct. No email for this notification either, though I have had an email arrive from another source in the mean while.

Odder and Odder

I just sent myself an email from the forum, and it arrived straight away. But still no topic notification emails.

Settings ARE correct as below.

I had one earlier, but that may be for another reason.

I would report it to the website tracker and reference this topic in the ticket.

I too do not use email notifications so have no experience.

Just a thought - I wonder if an new RC version has been uploaded to this site and there is a bug in it.

As kinerity says it would do no harm to report it

This does indeed seem to be an issue with any emails sent by the board but only by things that use the queue system (So notifications are affected but not activation emails or other emails admins get for numerous things), hence it was not noticed immediately.

We noticed this a couple of days ago and are currently investigating it.

... or is there? From https://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-13681

Getting emails just fine. I believe the phpBB.com mail server needed rebooting late yesterday so this isn't really a bug anyways.

The email server was rejecting logins a few days ago so it might be that the issue is there, not here. I just rebooted that server to see if that helps any. Also turned off the mail queue to see if that could possibly be the problem.

This is a bug/issue with the site and is something we are working to resolve. I've created a ticket at https://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/WEBSITE-1221 and any further discussion should continue there.
