Ah that explains it. Anyway, I would like to see a conversion of that MOD into an extension.

where do you think it is? this is about "main phpbb.com" as you can get with a poll.

phpbb discussion is the perfect forum for a discussion about phpbb that is not either a support question or a extension or style question etc.

Maybe he's suggesting an announcement on the phpBB home page. I also think that would be a good idea for these polls in the future.

Yes, I meant the main page of phpbb.com
Currently there are only 37 votes in the poll, which is a very small sample of the phpbb user base. I assume that a lot of the people visiting phpbb.com just didn't see this thread (or they get rss updates / etc..)

Or maybe many users aren't that bothered about it?

... or maybe people just look at what they look at and don't bother looking at anything else as they know it would not interest them (like 90%+ of forum users IMHO)

I saw the poll on the first day but but none of the options are of interest to me so I didn't vote, there's no 'none of the above' option.

Honestly, none of these extensions appeal to me. But I voted for Paypal donations

I voted for ad management.

A lot of boards rely on sponsors to keep them going and the ability to easily manage those is very useful in terms of ad positions, regularity of display, timing displays for when ad deals expire and being able to monitor views and clicks to relay the success back to the sponsor.

I can see a Paypal extension being popular for club boards with memberships.

I used to have the Welcome PM MOD on phpBB2 and to be honest hardly anyone read it. I ended up with a outbox full of unread messages. Honestly, how many people read those things when they join a site.

I do :P

And I know quite a lot of users in my forum do, cause they are following the links provided there, to the introduction topic, etc.
If you have a specific extension request and you are willing to pay for, you can write me a PM.

A well written PM extension would not add them to your outbox, so that wouldn't be an issue = :)
