Is there a patch file for 3.1.10-RC1 to 3.1.10 or no changes needed? I did look here which is where it would normally be but it's not listed.

I finally persuaded my Wife to update her own forum herself.

When we had finished, she said "Is that all?" I don't know what she was expecting, but she was amazed how easy it was (which I have been telling her and others for ages)

Four Fora (including the above) took maybe 20 min. Easy Peasy as usual. Many thanks

Hi, is it guaranteed that the automatic update can be executed via FTP? Are problems excluded?
Or are they known? If so, would there be a remedy and where would you find a new guide?

The last updates had unfortunately in the consensus yes error in that function.

The version checking didn't work. I logged into the ACP and checked and it still said that 3.1.9 was the latest version. I am updating anyway.

Usually it propagates a bit later, lies into a different place (the.json file). AFAIK.

I have updated my localhost test server from 3.1.9 to 3.1.10. There were no problems and the update was completed within a few minutes.

With this upgrade, two language pack files should be deleted. Deletions are not done automatically, so you must do this yourself.

The install page does not mention that you should delete the same files from every language pack. My board has the American English language packs installed. In this case, I deleted:

Code: Select all

language/en/search_ignore_words.php
language/en/search_synonyms.php

language/en_us/search_ignore_words.php
language/en_us/search_synonyms.php
The database update was very fast. I always use the command line: php bin/phpbbcli.php --safe-mode db:migrate

I'm using what ever language pack came with phpBB. I think it's British English. Do I need to do anything? Are those in the database?

isn't it pretty standard that you have update any custom language packs yourself at each version update.
also, where does it tell you to delete those files? I would assume that it is not really necessary to delete them , if the board no longer needs them, it will no longer call for them so they can just sit there with no harm.

I checked the changes against my local git diff (3.1.9 to 3.1.10) and confirm there is a problem with the Area 51 wiki.

The list of files modified align with those in the Area 51 wiki. I can see exactly what changed in my local git diff (add PHP Event hooks), but the Area 51 wiki says "No visible changes".

Perhaps there is a related problem with the install configuration? The only style change I reviewed during the install was for \styles\prosilver\template\overall_header.html. Also, \include\functions.php. No other file differences were available.

I agree the files can remain with no harm, but I believe it is important to follow good configuration management practice. If a file is no longer needed, it should be deleted.
