Thanks for that Crizzo. It's the first info I've seen on that and, I suspect, like many we're looking forward to be able to do it and keep up to date.at the moment there is bug in the updater
I agree here as I've always used the updater and aside from mistakes I made when I was a novice with phpBB upgrades, I've never had any issues. It's always the quickest way too and I make sure to check the diffs/conflicts during the merge process to ensure I'm not messing anything up.

This was a very quick and easy way to update for people that have made manual code and layout changes.
Overwriting the entire package and re-adding all of the changes again is a huge step backwards.
Oh what I'd do for a Wordpress type update option, one click and its done.
What phpBB version are you running and to which version do you want to update to?
