Google Captcha

Post by </Solidjeuh> »

Hello,

Is the built-in "Google Recaptcha" been broken by spambots?
I had 3 spambots today.. I now changed it to Q&A ..

Cannot say that I have noticed any difference - I had a spate a few weeks back, but they have gone somewhere else (probably your site    )

I now no longer support any of my extensions but they will start to become available here

Well, those captchas are pretty easy for human spammers to solve too. Just click the box...

I was so happy to finally switch to ReCAPTCHA 2 when I switched to phpBB 3.2. In reality it's worse than having my own question & answer (Q&A). You'd figure Google of all companies would be able to get that right! Just use Q&A.

Google reCaptcha reported being cracked in October, I wouldn’t trust it.

👍🏼 Agreed and you have 100% control too.

It's a "smart" captcha, you only get the check box when it's presumed you are human. Google is dong whatever behind the scenes. If you are displaying bot activity they will display a more difficult captcha. There is certain features in Google Webmaster tools for example that have a captcha, if you use that feature excessively it will switch to the more difficult one. If you continue to use it you may have to solve multiple captachas.

In any event I'm using the Q&A which seems to work very well.

Or if you don't want to be trained acting like a machine to click on those pictures that are plain wrong but obviously those which Google thinks are the correct choices. And it's getting worse without having a chance to report discrepancies. Not to speak about that using Google is one more tracker for your registrants.
