It's a "smart" captcha, you only get the check box when it's presumed you are human. Google is dong whatever behind the scenes. If you are displaying bot activity they will display a more difficult captcha. There is certain features in Google Webmaster tools for example that have a captcha, if you use that feature excessively it will switch to the more difficult one. If you continue to use it you may have to solve multiple captachas.
I also trust in vest & armor.
Or if you don't want to be trained acting like a machine to click on those pictures that are plain wrong but obviously those which Google thinks are the correct choices. And it's getting worse without having a chance to report discrepancies.
