Install phpBB and list of things to do

Hello everybody!

If we are not super expert of phpBB, with tens or hundreds installations behind the shoulders, after the installation we waste a lot of time to think and understand what will be the next step we have to face.

I don't know if it already exist or not, but I think it coul be very useful a guide to follow for set up correctly step by step our forum post installation.

What do you think about?

Whilst not a totally bad idea the problem is that there is no "one size fits all" answer as everyone's post installation requirements are different

The important thing to do is set a GOOD CAPTCHA. Whatever you do, DO NOT use any of the 'squiggly letter' CAPTCHAS that phpBB comes shipped with. Those were broken by BOT writers years and years ago.

Off course, I was refering about the basic thinks, mainly for people who has not much experiences with phpBB (like me

Thanks HiFiKabin for your suggestion, what GOOD CAPTCHA do you suggest?

I have two recommendations

The inbuilt Q&A with either a question where you can not Google for the answer (bots can use google) or with my Obscure Registration Code extension

KeyCaptcha (the free service is good enough)

I wonder why it’s still included in the phpBB package.
