Can our forum have images for categories ?

Old forum packed a sad thanks to reCAPTCHA V1 being shut off...

I see that you are using "freeforums" so the answer to your question is I don't know as I believe that some core features of phpBB are unable to be used, but in a standard phpBB install you can add forum images (those on you first site are forum images not category images).

I would suggest that you find a paid host (there are many who charge very little) and use the files from here rather than use freehosts as I can guarantee that you will be back with more problems before long.

Double check with ProBoards that you can have a database copy whenever you want one because I’m not certain they’ll give it to you. If they won’t you need to consider going somewhere you have full access to your board and dB before it gets too big.

The option for this is under ACP >> Forums >> Gear wheel to edit Forum

phpBB only allows setting a relative path to an image, ideally you use FTP to upload them. A workaround would be to upload an image to topic and set that as the path.

Thanks thecoalman. Our old forum which was hosted by informe.com is buggered. I as a mod can not even log into ACP due to reCAPTCHA v1 (google) being switched off. Login is broken. informe has not been active for 8 years and after google switched off recaptcha, things went to the dogs.

I was able to set images for categories (forums whatever) old forum, but I can not see how to set images on the new (proboards) forum.

See the 2 forum links that I provided.

As I said before proboards turn off some core features of phpBB

didn't even realise that Proboards was using phpBB3 ,

they never use the Copyright text at the bottom do they?

it is amazing how much they can pack in, I just saw one proboards site with Shoutbox, so I guess that was a clue to phpBB

one thing that Proboards don't seem to be able to get their heads around is https

apart from that it's amazing how their adverts pay for the servers and bandwidth and I assume they still make a profit. what they provide to anybody who wants "free forums" has evolved into a pretty good deal . I appreciate they are probably stuck without database access, it certainly wouldn't interest me and AFAIK they can't get https , correction , I just noticed TSButcher's site IS https so there, they can even get that!!
