GPL License

Post by RaythXC »

I'm unsure exactly where to put this but this seems the best place.

I'm currently planning a full website CMS system for personal use, which I also plan to have available open source if anyone actually wanted it. To make things simpler, and simply because I'm used to how it functions etc, I wanted to use php 3.1.x template class.

Am I right in thinking that under the GPL License released with phpBB software, I can do so freely providing I also make the source available and keep all the copyright intact for the particular file I wish to use?

Yes.

Any particular reason why you are sticking with 3.1?

You would be better off upgrading to 3.2 and making whatever it is your making for that. Support for 3.1 has ended (EOL) so you would be on your own.

Because it's not a forum add-on or anything it's purely outside a forum. Simply using the template class for displaying pages easier
