Find a better host then.
They realise people have different needs.
To what in particular?
I find that a strange conclusion.
One thing to be aware of is it may not be stock PHP. I know when I was on Plesk server many years ago an older version was available but it was managed by Plesk and they were actively adding security patches on their own.
In the case of my host, there were a couple of minor version updates, so that probably includes the security updates (but that would still be considered stock PHP).thecoalman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 6:58 pmOne thing to be aware of is it may not be stock PHP. The current debian* stable is Buster.
That's what I said : it's indeed possible.Marc wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 7:47 amPHP 7.2 can be installed from the PPA of the maintainer of PHP packages for Ubuntu and Debian:
https://deb.sury.org/
Those are clearly as secure as using the ones from the official Debian and Ubuntu repositories and PHP 7.2 is still fully supported.
Code: Select all
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/php7.list
deb https://packages.sury.org/php/ buster main
The maintainer wrote: I am a Debian Developer since year 2000, and I have been packaging PHP for Debian since PHP 5. That means the official packages in Debian and Ubuntu are either my work or they are based on my work. The PHP packages in my Ubuntu PPA and Debian DPA matches the official packages in Debian. Basically I am saying that you can’t get any closer than that.
Regardless of what that page says, that statement is simply untrue. phpBB 3.2 support continues (just look at the Support forum).criley wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 5:04 pmeven phpBB3.2 is no longer actively supported (https://www.phpbb.com/about/release/)
