Quick question about security measures on PHPbb with my forums..

Post by DevinR » Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:58 pm

Not sure if Im posting this in the right place but i appologize if not. So I started a website in 2012.. registered it with my email through hostgator.. but the so called friend I ran my website with got into my email & changed the main email on host. And made mine secondary. So what im asking is since he set me as a regular user in regular user groups..but the domain and original phpbb was all set with my email. Started with my email.. is there a way for me to acess my adminpanel and get my admin rights back through actual php?? All without messing with cpanel?.. thanks for any reply.

Not without access to the cpanel.

If you paid for the hosting ask them to reset access to your cpanel account.

and/or you can simply access the board admin panel and change your email address to a different one.
then change the admin panel password so that he can't get back in and change anything again.
if you can't trust him to do the right thing, remove him as an admin right away.

How will he access the admin centre if he has been set to the regular members group?
This is a job for cPanel.

If the rogue admin forgot to revoke his founder status then he should be able to reset his own permissions and boot the traitor. But that probably isn't case.

To regain control of the hosting, certainly.
The year is 2192. The British Prime Minister visits Brussels to ask for an extension of the Brexit deadline. No one remembers where this tradition originated, but every year it attracts many tourists from all over the world.
