A good reason to not replace Emojis by pictures but instead leave the original characters as they are.

Sry I want go away with Image Emojis. The need to load from the Client.
The Unicode come from the Browser so need to load them separate.

I am not a Script Kiddy but I guess it could not that be hard to to make a Script when someone klick on a Unicode Emoji und the right site like: 🧠 the Script add them into the Text Fild like:
&#129504, &#x1F9E0
or the Emoji them self: 🧠

Its just was going on in my: 🤯

Understood. I'm also wondering if setting the image ALT text to the actual Unicode emoji character would allow both goals to be solved. (Image for consistency of display; actual Unicode character for screen readers.)

I just thought the same after copy&pasting an actual unicode emoji to our phpBB instance 😎. A builtin unicode emoji keyboard as replacement for the current image based solution would be a very welcome modernisation. But probably this is more something for phpBB v4 than the v3 branch, also as it rewrites uft8mb4 database charset/collation support which is AFAIK not required for phpBB currently?

It’s the English (UK) keyboard with emoji as supplied with iPhones and iPads.

Windows 10 users should read Windows 10 keyboard tips and tricks
Microsoft wrote:Emojis aren’t just for your phone anymore! The new emoji keyboard in Windows 10 lets you express yourself like never before. To use it:

During text entry, type Windows logo key + . (period). The emoji keyboard will appear.

Select an emoji with the mouse, or keep typing to search through the available emojis for one you like.

Emojis are available for Windows 7 + most, if not all, of the popular browsers have the option to install emojis.

In Win 11 use WIN + V and you get the Emoji, the tenor gifs, the clipboard history and much, much more. :P No Need to be into a text area, BTW.
