Tips for successful forum?

Post by kdiscuss »

I made a forum for other kids and my friends but I think my forum is becoming yet another dead phpbb forum. I thought I did everything right. I posted on social media to attract users, I used a more modern style for good user experience, and I kept working at it and didn't give up. Currently my forum seems dead because no one else has posted since the end of MAY! I know some of you in this community have booming forums with many users. Can you give me some tips? Or do you think forums are dead and it's a waste of time?

you are trying to be all things to all people and that will not work any longer.

try to find a target market. all kids is to general. find kids that like a particular tv show or web channel etc.
or a particular phone or something specific.
then create lots and lots of content about that subject.
make sure that you are marketing to those people that are interested in your subject.
If you are doing social media ( yuck ) then join facebook groups or whatever they have about your subject.
tell the members of the group about your board. do the same with other social media.

you have to specialize. the days of general subjects on a board are long gone.

you will need to create the content to start with. just start with a few forums with several topics related to your
subject matter. make interesting posts in the topic with videos, images, etc. that will engage your members/viewers that are interested in that subject.

look around on the web and find other boards about your subject matter.
see what they are doing.
do it better.

good luck,
robert

That is fine but that is the form. The main tip for successful forum is [unique] content :)
