I don't like modern-looking websites, I like websites that look something like this

Don't mind the text, you get the idea.

Soooo, since I don't like modern looking websites, you can probably take a good guess what style I'll use ;)
That's your personal preference and I must say a pretty unique one cause I doubt more than 1% of all websites will still have this retro look :D

You may not have any choice if you want the features that will be in future versions.

What a beautiful blast from the past when the web was 90% content and 10% bloat. Now it's 90%+ bloat and 10% or less of real content.

I do hope prosilver is updated to work with phpBB 4.0 so it's an option.

It wont be hard to make the new styles look like that, just delete the colours style sheet and the result will look similar

I like the Idea of PhPBB getting up to date as far as security etc, But People are so accustomed to prosilver that i just dunno....
then theres people that like to be able to use Board3 as their front page...(Now if I only knew how to program, and add custom modules...)

That is not just a new style, it is a whole new version of phpBB. Everyone that upgrades to phpBB-4 would get that style.
Do you think there will be phpBB-3 holdouts in a similar vain to phpBB-2 Refugees?

I think that there may well be - but how long the majority will holdout is another question. My guess is that there will be a lot of users still using phpBB 3 for a good couple of years if for no other reason that they will be waiting for extensions/styles to be developed.

It's a question to which the answer for just about any phpBB user is :YES
There will certainly be users who will use it : I know I will, but that doesn't imply that people are doing to stick with it (if you consider it a "style").
I'm not following the development but it's like asking a Win311 user whether he will use Win95. Either the user will stick with MS, in which case sooner or later he will have to use it, or he'll move to another OS depending on the experience.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.
