Embedding Twitter Threads

Post by Matthew G. Saroff »

Since there can be multi length threads in twitter, and embedding all of those separate threads are a PITA to post separately, I'll show you a simple 2-step way to embed a thread using Threadreaderapp.
The Setup
Create a custom tag:
The bbCode useage page looks like this:

Code: Select all

[threadreaderapp]{TEXT}[/threadreaderapp]
The HTML replacement looks like this:

Code: Select all

<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" src="https://threadreaderapp.com/embed/{TEXT}.html" type="text/html" width="800 px" height="2000 px"></iframe>
The helpline looks like this:

Code: Select all

[threadreaderapp]number[/threadreaderapp]
You can add an icon with the name "threadreaderapp", but I just stuck with the text.

Using the new tag:

First, you see an intriguing Twitter thread:
https://twitter.com/SethAbramson/status ... 8061478912

Then you reply to this thread with the following text:

Code: Select all

@threadreaderapp unroll
In a minute or so, you will see a reply in your notifications that looks like this:
Image

You click through, and you end up at the page with the thread displayed.

The URL looks like this:

Code: Select all

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1349142068061478912.html
Select the numerical portion, and paste it into a message:

Code: Select all

[threadreaderapp]1349142068061478912[/threadreaderapp]
And the whole thread posts in a scrollable window.
[On Edit]

I have been told that the scrolling window, "Sucks b****," on mobile.
