Installation problem

I can't run the installer. I uploaded the installation zip to ftp and at first it reported a 500 error. I fixed that, but now it has an error message:

Did you unzip it on the server? If so this may be the problem as some servers do not respect the directory structure when unzipping.

Unzip the file on your local PC and then ftp the files to your server.

Yes, I unzipped it to ftp because I can't upload multiple files at once and after unzipping I have about 4500 files in the directory. Unfortunately, I will copy it one by one until tomorrow.

A phpBB332.zip file contains 642 directories (nested) and 3937 files.
If you can upload files only 1 by 1, you either need a different FTP software or, if it's host-controlled : dump that host and find a new one.
I just timed drag and drop of 10 files and it took me about 30 seconds, so that would amount to ± 400 x 30 seconds = ± 3.3 hours and hope you didn't miss one.
There are better ways to spend some spare time.

I installed the zip in a special directory and then dragged the files to the www and it worked. Installed. Heureka and thanks to all.

glad you got it done but here's some advice;
get a real ftp program and install it on your computer.
even uploading the zip file using a real ft program is not a good idea because it will often
not unzip it in the proper directory order etc.

if you are going to have a web site with or without a phpbb board, you really should have the tools needed to
maintain it. that includes a real ftp program like filezilla or whatever.
