you should not be upgrading to phpBB3 while it is in the beta test stages, you are best waiting to RC1

and when it does come out, there will be instructions on how to do it. you should read and follow them at that time.

I personally feel the impatient newb rant is annoying. I hope that during this new year newbs around the world will grow up and stop complaining. This has been a Public Service Announcement brought to you by the words GROW and UP.

Unfortunately now that new site is up & running in beta 5 the expectation of some is going to be that RC1 must be available now ...

yea they are taking there time. but they don't get paid to make this software.

if you want some sort of indication of what they are dealing with check http://www.phpbb.com/bugs/phpbb3/

when that hits 0 bugs we will get RC1, or so one would expect :)

I would not assume anything. Upgrading from beta 5 to RC may work or it may not. The one thing that you need to bear in mind is that if you do upgrade from beta 5 to RC then you will not receive any support.

Because they won't offer support for B5-->RC1 I wouldn't be so sure that it will go as easy as you think. Then again, who knows?

Since all other issues regarding this question have been answered, I’ll also point out that yes, it should go smoothly so long as you did not modify anything, database or file related.
Then yes, it should be smooth.
And just to rehash the rehashing, upgrading from any version of Beta to RC will NOT be supported.

OH! I’m sorry... how much are you paying for it?
