I waited for RC1 to install and test olympus. And I must say, I am SERIOUSLY impressed by what the devs managed to create. 2.xx has always had the reputation of a cheap alternative to the commercial forums like wbb2 that you had to put some serious work into to get the same features. Olympus on the other hand is a real KILLER in terms of features and functionality that can easily compete with other systems you got to pay serious money for. Congratulations, you did an outstanding job! :)

I agree. It will be a very long time before I upgrade to 3, if ever.

I have to say... phpBB3 is really, really amazing. I'm Very impressed. I've used them all. I run vBulletins, Invision Power Boards and others - and this latest version of phpBB is truely amazing. I cannot believe it's free. There should be a "PayPal Donate" button within the Admin CP for all admins to easily donate through from time to time. This software is worth paying for...

Thank you, phpBB team/staff...

Most of the features I ve added to my highly modded phpBB 2 board is already available here in phpBB 3.... And the ones that are not available alone I got to wait for some MOD authors to write the code for it or write some of em of my own... But the phpBB 3 package is quite great....

But one thing I heard is a highly tweaked phpBB 2 forum for a very large board having more than 200,000 users and nearly 700 - 1000 users online (in a 5 min interval) was performing better than the same board when converted to phpBB 3 RC1.... So I guess by default phpBB 3 is not fully tweaked for running large boards and hence some tweaks have yet to be made to it too :D

phpBB3 is far superior performance-wise, especially when it comes to big boards. We used several big boards as test objects during the development phase and have further improved matters with the experiences made on phpBB.com. There are still tweaks possible, but a vanilla 3.0 should be faster than a tweaked 2.0.
