phpBB is using it's own custom system of sorts, built off of -- you guessed it -- phpBB. It's actually quite easy to do.

This is what I am looking for too. I love Joomla 1.5 and the phpbb 3. Both are awesome and sweet. Right now my forum is wrapped and I have put a notice in the news flash for everyone to see where they have to register on the main and forum.

Anyone have any updated news on a possible bridge for PHPBB 3... there is a thread started in the Joomla Community forums... but hasn't really went anywhere since RocketWerx.com has stated they are workig on something and that the project was close to 75% complete.

http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,193378.0.html

Since that time I would assume there have been much more improvements... anyone know of anything?

When Joomla 1.5 is released, it will contain a phpBB3 bridge plugin ready to go. It's already built and I've seen it in action. It'll go through testing and will help Joomla users integrate out of the box!

The RocketWerx bridge is about 95% complete, there are a few minor routing bugs, but registration is syncing both ways, profile syncing is working joomla->phpbb3 direction, only phpbb3->joomla profile syncing is left. We even have the ability to turn on SEF url's via joomla's built in capabilities. Overall it's working very well and shoudl be able to beta test in a couple of weeks. We should soon have a proper site up and test forum.

There is no bridge included in 1.5, we're hoping to get this bridge released before 1.5 is final though. Core joomla developers are involved in the RocketWerx bridge, so although there may be other bridges, there's certainly not one with more core-involvement.

cheers.

I should be more specific ...Joomla 1.5RC was demoed...In a state probably pretty close to what was released last week as RC2. However, the RC2 release doesn't have this plugin.

Plugin included or not... I am excited about this... there is no reason this will be a difficult install for anyone - especially with all the core developers working on this.

I can't wait to see this in action... will the rocketwerx site be updated on this? I haven't seen much updates there. None the less great work to all! I look forward to seeing this!

Hi and thanks for your efforts in making a good bridge (or layer) between Joomla and PhpBB.

One question, will it be possible to turn off user sync and only use the visual integration part of this bridge? That would be really nice because of the limited Joomla ACL.

Will you consider making a Joomla 1.0.X version of this bridge too?

Thanks!
