Adding links to the header?

Post by j1akey »

Admittedly I know next to nothing about slightly modifying my forums but I'm wondering if anyone has the code to add links to th top of the forums where the FAQ, Members, etc. links are located. I tried using the old code from my 2.X forums but it doesn't work and I have no idea how to do it in version 3. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

simply go to styles prosilver or subsilver2 template/ open overall_header.html

locate:

Code: Select all

<a href="{U_FAQ}" title="{L_FAQ_EXPLAIN}" class="icon-faq">{L_FAQ}</a>
inline before you add your link but...

And just so you know, you can hardcode it, ie:

Code: Select all

<a href="http://www.site.com" title="Site" class="icon-logout">Site</a>
I would use icon-logout for the class value, as it looks the most generic IMO.

Good luck!

in phpbb2 i i used to add a proper link like:

<a href="{U_NEWLINK}" title="{L_NEWLINK_EXPLAIN}" class="new-link-class">{L_NEWLINK}</a>

then in includes/page_header.php add:

'U_NEWLINK' => append_sid('newlinketc.'.$phpEx)
'L_NEWLINK' => $lang['NEWLINK],
etc..

so if i wanted to do more, NEWLINK PAGE viewing, etc with more options... simply very easy way to make simple mod from starting making just a link.

but in phpbb3 im very confused why page_header.php is missing
