I would be nice if version 3 could support RSS feeding.
What do you think about supporting RSS in your future releases?

I believe it was one of the community coding projects, which gives it a good chance in being in either 3.2 or 3.4.

The (main) reason it isn't in 3.0 is that the new version has taken much longer than intended to get to this stage. Back when 3.0 (or, 2.2 at that time) was feature frozen, hardly anyone used RSS, so, it wasn't something people requested.

3.0 won't ("feature frozen")
3.2 feature frozen, too - as much as I know - (don't know if there are plans to include feeds)
If it isn't included, it probably will be requested for 3.4 (and hopefully included...)
In the meantime, the only "similar" option is to subscribe to forums/topics. (coorect me if I'm wrong)

Thanks I was going to ask if it could be in one of the later releases of v3

We will have to wait and see. But I would guess that if that one is not released there will be one fairly soon after RC1

Most likely not as a "standard", but there are a few mods that will accomplish this.

I'd also like to know if simple RSS support will be added into PHPBB 3 final. If not, why?

Does the PHPBB team even consider adding simple RSS/XML support in the future? It's 2007 not 2002.

No, because nothign else will be added into phpBB3 final that is not currently there.
