Documentation PDF?

Post by smijy »

I am just wondering, is there a copy of the documentation for 3.0 somewhere for download? I would like to print out the manual, but all I can find is the linked version on this website.

http://www.phpbb.com/support/documentation/3.0/

If anyone knows where I can find a printable version it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jason.

There is not currently a printable version, nor, as far as I know, are there plans to create one.

PDF documentation would be extremely useful. I would even offer my services to create the PDF manual and submit it back to to support team if someone could send me the current file(s).

Well, I had an intern grab all of the webpages from the documentation website and convert it to a Microsoft Word document. We then converted it to PDF using Acrobat 8.1.2 and I think the results are pretty good for a first pass.

Unfortunately, I am unable to attach that file to this message due to file size limitations. So, I published the file on a temporary site at http://download.yousendit.com/087CB6376D3DC76E.

It will be available for download for the next 7 days.

There seems to be a few blank pages in the beginning, but this is great!

Actually being able to search through a document instead of navigating through web pages is wonderful.

Than you!

Excellent - any chance of doing the same with version 2? :D

I wonder who made the documention for the html pages...

Seems it would be easier to do if it was done from the server side.

That is, having access to the html files and converting them into a pdf takes just a few minutes.

On the other hand, clicking on each link, copying the contents into document, and then converting it to a pdf takes time.

I can't imagine how long it took to do 90 + pages.

Actually, the docs, I believe, are originally written in XML and converted to HTML.

It *should* be easy for us to get the documentation in PDF format without any hassles. Thanks for the suggestion, it'll be considered.

You can print from your browser. Anything you see on your computer screen is printable.

Anyone still have a copy of the PDF? All of the above referenced links appear to have expired.

Thanks!

Fixed the link, will take a couple of hours for DNS to update though.
