Following on from the RC7 topic, I thought it would be best to keep all of the RC8 discussion to one topic so as to not have threads here, there and everywhere :)

Hey PHPBB! RC8 AWEsome!

I'm curious, How do you go about deciding if the new software is going to be the stable version?

I recommend posting in the phpBB 3 Support forum, or reading the documentation that comes along with the files you downloaded. There is some very thorough docs in the package you downloaded telling you what to do (check ./docs/INSTALL.html)

And congrats on the release of RC8. I look forward to the final release soon? ^^

It took me less than 10 minutes from finding out about the update to completing the process. phpBB3 is so great 8-)

Good deal, lots of bug fixes. Some of them were mine :)

Does anyone know if this is breaking anything (styles mainly) that were made for RC7?

There is nothing significant to break styles ... a couple tweaks here and there.

Is this supposed to be in RC8? I was uploading to the server and noticed a huge file... it's here.

phpBB-3.0.RC8\phpBB3\includes\utf\data\recode_cjk.php

It's 1.4megs of PHP and in the second line it says...

// Not inluded within the standard distribution

I'm interested in this question, too. If the file is really not included it should be removed from the download package because it is rather large. What's its purpose?

I've juste updated to RC8 and I have this bug:

Image

(text is displayed over the button)

It appears in any language, with Firefox & IE... I purged the cache but it does not change anything.

Any idea ?

don-vip: Try doing a hard-refresh (control+F5) or clearing your browser cache.
