I very much enjoyed all of the presentations, but unless you're something whose an "above average" user in terms of interest (e.g., team members  ), they will probably be a bit bland due to the lack of interaction, which, as you pointed out, isn't the fault of the presenter. I'd look at, in the future, perhaps having a few team members roving around with mics so those with comments could just signal a mic over or something to that effect.

Otherwise, the quality of all the presentations is VERY good. Even though some of the presentations, IMHO, were better than others (I won't be specific here as I want to avoid any confrontations of that nature), all of you performed at a level higher than I expected (after having nothing to go off of), which is quite good, considering I'd assume most of you aren't too use to public presentations.

As for you, specifically, drathbun, I quite liked yours ;)

Heh, thanks, but this was not intended as fishing for complements. :) I do happen to have a bit of experience with public speaking, so this was quite fun for me, and it was a topic I can be quite passionate about. There was some really great discussion in the room that was missed if you weren't there. NeoThermic, Marshalrusty, MarkTheDaemon, Acyd Byrn, Evil<3, naderman, Noth, CTCNetwork, ChrisRLG, .... those are the ones I definitely remember as having some sort of question or response to the discussion during the anti-spam presentation, and it was really quite enjoyable. I am quite sure there were more folks that responded or commented at some point and I've probably just set them off by not listing them.

I was most impressed by the fact that so many folks there were not speaking in their primary language. Every time I get over there I am humbled.

I'll certainly go next year if it is in the US.

$1100 for the plane ticket alone is way too much. Heck, I bought my new desktop which screams for about $900.

New quad core desktop or almost a plane ticket which would require me to spend probably another $1000 once I get to London.

As much as I'd like to go, $2000 is way too much to spend for less than a week trip just to meet and hang out with a few people. ;)

I believe that this is certainly on the list of important aspects to consider for next year. The original purpose for the gathering this year was for team members, and based on team-member geography London was selected as the most appropriate place. User geography is definitely on the list of points to consider for a location for the next 'vasion.

Perhaps some kind of fundraiser to help pay for the team member's tickets?

Thanks, but that's not the primary concern for the teams this time. :)

That sounds great, as I would love to join the team and fellow users at a phpBB group event. If the event could be hosted in the North Eastern area of the United States, that would be great for me and some of the other phpBB team members and users. But, it is obviously ultimately up to the phpBB team. Still, it would be nice to see you guys in The States some time. :)

Hum ho, a “screaming” Desktop would drive me nuts. I prefer a quite storm that blows away screaming desktops. [/ot]

I’ll repeat what has been said before, it is highly likely that the next invasion will be held in NYC, so all those North American’s who didn’t quite have the funds to travel overseas will be able to do so for a fraction of the cost to NYC. -- New York is also significantly cheaper to stay and eat and... well, just walk around in than London. :)

Although, you guys really missed the London experience, which I wouldn’t have traded for anything. :P

London certainly is one of the places I'd like to visit in the future, but perhaps in the off-season when it is cheap.

When I went to Dublin last November it only costed me about $800 for the entire trip (6 days). Though I did stay at a friends house for free. :)

They missed one. :P

It's hardly surprising, given I was a late substitution...

That's great to hear, considering that I can probably drive to New York City in only two hours, so I don't have to worry about taking a flight. That would be very convenient for some of the phpBB Team members in the North Eastern United States, as well, considering that most of the phpBB Team members in the North Eastern United States are near or close to New York City.

Well, keep that idea in your mind, because it sure would be nice to join team members and users alike in a nearby area. Now, in the next invasion, will any user be allowed to sign up and join the gathering? I'm not sure if that was how Londonvasion was, but I'm just asking for future reference.

I wrote those based on this schedule the week before Londonvasion even started. You weren't on there, Dave, so you didn't get spotlighted. Sorry.
