html home page

Hi, is it possible to have a html home page with a link to the forum so that the html page shows when anyone goes to the site. Also that they will get a message to register and login before they can get to the forum. Maybe a lot to ask but my old CMS site had it but was corrupt and too much trouble so i have opted for PHPBB 3.3, much better. Thanks for any help given

Yes using the phpBB templating system is the best way - see viewtopic.php?f=641&t=2533051&p=15404341#p15404341

Thanks i will try that but i already tried the htaccess part and nothing happened. Thanks anyway and i will let you know how i get on.

Please do, if you try the suggestions from the KB please let us know how you get on. I’m interested to know if it’s still relevant.

Hi, made the php file and the html file, uploaded into the correct directories but no show. I also purged the cache. I think i may have to find another solution to this for PHPBB 3.3.
Forum is in the main directory /public_html so i thought this should be easy but it seems to be for older versions.
All i need is a html home page with a link to the forum but only for registered users, thanks for your help anyway.

I have uploaded index.html and in the .htaccess file at the top i included the line, DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
This should have worked as well.

Hi thanks, i am still having problems seeing it so i am going to try another solution, i am going to place the forum in another folder and use the home page in html to link to it from the /public_html, so it's still part of the site but not the home page.
The page i am using at the moment has a 30 second delay and then redirects to the forum, it's just for testing.

Yes it still all works

I used the KB guide well over 10 years ago to add extra pages to my site, and over time they have evolved but the underlying basic code from the KB is still there doing its job

Great styles on there. Downloaded one, thanks for posting the link. My front page is coming along much better.
