You would have to add them to group manually.

Bit of advice, be clear about what you want to do when asking your questions so people aren't going around in circles answering them.

Thanks.

Please use the ‘Quote’ function only when it is needed to make your reply clear and only quote the parts necessary not the whole post every time. Excessive quoting (especially of long messages and/or multiple images) makes reading the post extremely difficult and tiresome.

Reading this topic just now, and it's yesterday all over again.
FYI the extension thecoalman linked to can be extended: https://github.com/phpbb-extensions/aut ... uto-Groups.
I suggest you reconceptualise the whole idea you have of using language criterium as a direct criterium in order to grant permissions.
Groups is the way to go and with the info in the link thecoalman provided it should be possible to create a language criterium allowing automatic group membership.

Ask the question in the Extension support topic, or post the request in Wanted! if you're willing to offer some kind of incentive.

And again: as with the "underage" example, it's not really the age that defines the permissions, but membership of a group (age is just a a criterium for membership, as would be the user language).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

I've given the answer already in this topic.

The way I understand this is that you never want search results coming from a particular Category.
Then using the permission system can do just that (unless more is at hand and the information you supplied doesn't cover the case completely).
But the way you put the question implies that the Category shouldn't be searched at all (by nobody).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Why editing files when the permission system can cater for this? (and the setting can be changed easily whenever you need to, without having to edit any code)

Forum permissions
set (for all groups)
Can search the forum = NEVER
