AFAIK Notepad++ doesn't find strings in compressed files (nor in a compressed package of files).
So if you need to find specific strings in the compressed phpBB package (e.g. php335.zip) you'ld have to unpack it first.
There are file managers/utilities that have that feature.

Perhaps you didn't get: The search was directly in the zipped package. (no unpacking involved)
I could also have searched the directory 2 levels higher, containing all the compressed phpBB packages, per version, so if I had needed a list of all the phpBB files since version 2, containing a specific string, I would get a list of a couple of hundred files referencing their source, and I could work on those without having to actively extract first.

Since it's strictly speaking not free (although it's not limited) I didn't mention its name. There are about 5 similar tools available from different vendors.

It's just a tip that there are utilities available which have more/better functionalities than the usual tools (e.g. Notepad++ is 100x better than Windows notepad).

Nothing personal that's obvious, I just conscientiously criticise what I read having read and followed the whole topic, it's my right and I use it.
I could go on and on, but words are carried away by the wind, for what purpose? There's no need to answer my question I guess.

Who is searching a zip file? I see nothing in this OPs posts indicating anyone is trying to search a zip file. Personally, I have all of the versions of phpBB unzipped in their own top-level folders, since that is how they unzip anyway.

I have modified the email .txt files, the Bcc goal was to check the mail as it is received.
I have received a copy but it is still the previous text version.
The files on the server are the new version though.
Does the cache have to be cleared for text changes to take effect ?
I did it anyway.

Edit : after clearing the cache the message is now OK, everything is working fine, thanks again.
