I imagine you can upgrade any style. It's updating the forum code not the style itself. I would give it a go.

Are you talking about the Icy Phoenix as per this website: http://www.icyphoenix.com/

That is, as they say, "an open-source Bulletin Board package PHP based".

If that is what you are talking about, rather than a phpBB style/template, then this forum section is not for help with that.

Regarding updating a phpBB2 style to be compatible with phpBB3, you need to redo it, based on the new phpBB3 templates. The way styles are in phpBB3 is very different from phpBB2. phpBB2 styles use tpl files, but those are not used for phpBB3 styles.

Icy Phoenix is a special program.

Read this: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 6&t=575018

Go to the Icy Phoenix website and ask them: http://www.icyphoenix.com/

Hi guys,

To save creating a new post about the same thing, I hope you do not mind that I am bumping quite an old thread.

I have read a few threads here and on http://www.icyphoenix.com about converting Icy Phoenix to PhpBB3. The Icy Phoenix database can first be converted to PhpBB2 by cleaning tables. There are two known ways to do this, manually or by running the script found here.

The issue a mate and I have found is that Icy Phoenix has since been updated and the clean_tables.php script doesn't appear to run. We get a blank screen. This may have something to do with extension.inc no longer existing. We've added it back in, modified it to remove 'hacking attempt' but the script still does not run.

The clean_tables.php script includes the following.

Code: Select all

define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = './../';
include($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc');
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);
With my limited php knowledge I am unable to get this script running. If anyone could assist here, it would be greatly appreciated.

That looks fairly easy to convert. Private Messages may be a little tricky and some bbcodes may be lost, but other than those it looks straightforward.

Wouldn't it be easier to convert to phpBB2, then to phpBB3?

EDIT: Sorry didn't notice it was already mentioned.

Firstly, thank you for your reply. I am fine with losing private messages - as long as the service still works. There is a topic on IP forums explaining how to correct the bbcode issues so this is not an issue.

Could you please provide me some further assistance in converting this? I just need a script or specific instructions that will work with IP 1.3.0.53 tables on my MySQL5 db.

I may have missed it, but what I saw over there works with the older versions of Icy Phoenix, not IP 1.3.0.53.

Thank you Dicky. I was going to request support by PM from Vic D'Elfant who is the developer of the original script, but this forum will not allow me to PM until I have 5 posts. :P

I eagerly await further correspondence.
