Re: [TOOL] Import Users--installing question

Post by nafex »

Okay my second dummy question. I got the files in the right place and the mod did show up in the Admin panel. I enabled it.

BUT Import User is NOT showing up in the left nav of the Users and Groups tab. Any ideas what I might have done wrong/how to fix?

Thanks for your patience and help!

I see no reason why this would not work.
Verify that the module is well configured by clicking on the green gear of the module. The status should show:

Code: Select all

- Module language Name: ACP_IMPORT_USERS
- Module type: Module
- Parent: Users
- Module enabled: Yes
- Module displayed: Yes
- Choose module: Import Users [acp_import_users]
- Choose module mode: Import Users
If all is OK, the Import Users tool should appear in the Users and Groups panel

Giles, you genius! I had the parent as Users and Groups instead of just Users. Now it shows up. Thank yo so much. (on to step 3!)

Will this work with any phpbb forum?

Any? Surely not.
But it is more complicated to predict when it will work or not. You should try (NOT in production environment of course!)
It has been initially developed for 3.0.4, updated for 3.0.7PL1 (but not due to a compatibility issue), successfully tested with 3.0.8 and 3.0.9. So it probably works with all versions from 3.0.4 to 3.0.9. It can't work with any Version 2. It may work with mods that don't affect user registration.

I do have similar errors but also getting all users imported.. which are not..

Email and Username have to be mapped.901

Which version of this mod have you installed?
Does your PhpBB have any other mod installed?

With a fresh version of phpbb3 and this mod it worked fine..
Only problem i have now is the joomla user passwords are like decb789621936ba7f4e0f126f87ac268:pdrlhqooC73T9V5t and i get the mod saying thats too long ?
If i cut that passwords to: decb789621936ba7f4e0f126f87ac268
the mails are sent like..
Username: testuser
Password: You password is unable to be determined since it was encrypted in
our previous database

That seems good to me.
You can verify your own password for your own imported user in phpBB. If you succeed to login that means the encryption is identical in phpBB database as in Joomla database so that users can log with their Joomla password in phpBB (even if phpBB has no mean to retrieve the uncrypted password).

If encryption is different, users will have to perform the password recovery procedure.

well, i have used -1 for password field it seems better creat new pass and its sent with the mail.
instead of work around the decb789621936ba7f4e0f126f87ac268:pdrlhqooC73T9V5t passwords, which is not allowed to (gave errors)

This is a solution.
But you could also have created some script or macro to get rid of the trailing part appended after the password so that you can keep the users passwords.

Hi, can anyone help me. I've installed it and it's showing up in Users, but when I click on Import Users, I get only this -
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/acp/acp_import_users.php on line 242: Undefined variable: pass_fmt
[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /adm/index.php on line 150: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /includes/functions.php:3779)
