RTL in a LTR forum

Post by thetobster »

Hello,

I have a forum that is used by mostly by English speakers in Israel. Occasionally people want to make a post in Hebrew with properly formatted RTL text. Is there a way to do this? Perhaps with BBCode? I have loaded the Hebrew language pack but I don' think it helps this specific issue.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The solution I found is to create a custom BBCode called RTL that then can have a button with the other BBCodes. To do this, navigate to the Posting => BBCodes section of the phpBB3 administration panel and click "Add a new BBCode." Then, put in the following:

BBCode Usage:

Code: Select all

[RTL]{TEXT}[/RTL]
HTML Replacement:

Code: Select all

<p dir="RTL">{TEXT}</p>
Make sure to check display on posting page so users know they can use it.

You may also want to create a LTR but if your board default is LTR then it shouldn't be needed.
