Update from 3.0.14 to 3.3.0

Post by AleSSaNDRo »

Hello,
I finally decided to update my forum from 3.0.14 to 3.3.0 but I can't.
It's a big database (>700.000messages), so I tried the shell script:

Code: Select all

php ./bin/phpbbcli.php db:migrate --safe-mode
but gives the following error:
In module_manager.php line 352:
[phpbb\module\exception\module_not_found_exception]
while from http://site/install/app.php/update, "Update database only ", it says:
2.JPG
in essence, it crashes without saying what the blocking problem is

In error.log of php there are no logged errors.
PHP Version: 7.3.13

I just can't understand how to fix this. Tips?

Thanks so much

Better update in steps.
First clean database with STK
Than go to 3.1.0
than 3.1.12
than 3.2.8
than 3.3.0
Sorry! My English is bat ;) !!!

Uninstall all mods, delete files, and remove all mod-related changes from the database.

Uninstalling a mod inherently includes undoing all database changes introduced by that mod.
Brexit and Trump are old news and currently I have no inspiration for a new signature.
Ow, wait: 3.3 has been released.

You can skip 3.1.x altogether. I went from 3.0.14 to 3.2.2 no problems.

<SNIP - made a mistake there >

If you have any mods in 3.0.14, you'll need to give consideration on how to make them work. Some mods like the gallery/attachment system can be ported apparently and you don't want to lose that data. Definitely keep a backup of any mod data and the relevant database tables. Most other mods you'll need to lose and find an extension will similar functionality. STK will clean out all of this mod data.

I edited php.ini to give me infinite max execution time and a lot more memory. Then used the CLI. It wouldn't work with the web-based installer. Don't get me wrong - it took a long time, but it worked.

Thank you all for the valuable suggestions. I did it.

If it can help, here's how I did it:
- cleaned the database with STK
- created sql table _config_text
- updated database from 3.0.14 to 3.2.9 (about 1 hour and a half of the process)
- update db from 3.2.9 to 3.3.0

It was really very difficult. There were many errors to resolve before the update process was successful.
With such tenacity and above all thanks to this forum (and the various posts with the solutions to the various update bugs), I managed to do this.

Win! :geek:

Now phpBB asks me to rebuild the search index and I have chosen "MySQL Fulltext".
I start the script but it crashes immediately with this error: Image

Code: Select all

Column 'post_text' cannot be part of FULLTEXT index [1283]

SQL

ALTER TABLE phpbb_posts MODIFY post_subject varchar (255) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci DEFAULT '' NOT NULL, ADD FULLTEXT (post_subject)
