New install gone bad

Post by Paula Joann »

Under Windows 10, I installed the latest phpBB when going to the ACP to start configuring the software I start running into the following error.

General Error
Module not accessible

BACKTRACE

FILE: (not given by php)
LINE: (not given by php)
CALL: msg_handler()

FILE: [ROOT]/includes/functions_module.php
LINE: 565
CALL: trigger_error()

FILE: [ROOT]/adm/index.php
LINE: 81
CALL: p_master->load_active()

As of yet I have not edited any files or opened any in an editor.

What are you trying to configure? You are not saying that the server is running Windows 10, are you? What your local computer's OS is, is irrelevant.

Please fill out the Support Request Template and post it back here to enable us to assist you better.

tsgirfriend.net didn't work and then I tried adding a couple of letters, eventually used all 39 letters of the alphabet and the last one (the l) gave me
girlfriend.net ;)

Your cookie domain is currently tsgirlfriend.net. Change that to .tsgirlfriend.net (note the leading dot).
Since you can't access the ACP you'll have to use Fixing incorrect cookie settings

In /cache delete everything except for index.htm and .htaccess.
Clear you browser cookies and browser cache and then try to log in and access the ACP. (no guarantee that will solve the problem but it's worth trying).

In any case, you mentioned using a host tool to install your board. That is not recommended as we don't know if the host has modified anything, nor how it was installed and basically it implies that the host should provide support.
Also, I see https://img1.wsimg.com/tcc/tcc_l.combined.1.0.6.min.js which seems to be a host-installed monitoring script (in your control panel there should be an option to switch that off).

Therefore I suggest (since it's a new board) to delete the board, and install a new one using the files downloaded from phpBB.com.

in trying to be short i wrote girfriend instead of tsgirfriend, etc...
Mick spotted that and gave the corrected advice so applied the correction here.

We should embrace problems, without which there wouldn't be any solutions.

I would suggest that you delete everything and start over with the files downloaded from this site. Hosts "one click" installs are notorious for creating problems and as they contain modified files we have no way of knowing where the problem lies.

Check your cookie domain, it’s showing tsgirlfriend.net and it should be .tsgirlfriend.net, note the leading dot.
