How long will a forum last if its not updated.

Post by Keefy »

Ive tried to update a test forum (well a forum that nobody uses no more) but I use it to test extensions out before updating my other forums, so I updated from 3.2.8 to 3.3.0, I got some errors and found that it was some extensions that were causing it, after disabling them the forum worked ok.

National Flags 2.1.6
Page Scroller 1.0.9
phpBB Gallery 3.2.2
phpBB Gallery Add-on: ACP Cleanup 1.2.0
phpBB Gallery Add-on: Exif 1.2.0
Sortables Captcha 2.0.0

I really need the Gallery, the National Flags is another I could do with, the rest are not important.

So if they is no update for the Gallery I think I will be best staying on 2.2.8 on PHP 7.2, how long before that is unsupported and comes to a end, i don't know :(

I assume you mean 3.2.8

There are still sites running phpBB2 and support for that ended 10 years ago.
It's more down to the hosts and whether they update the version of php such that your board won't work any more. Many many hosts still run php 5.x and that died a long time ago.

Do you mean 3.2.8?

Did you run this extension to check for errors in your installed extensions? From memory this will show you the errors on National Flags, not sure about the others

Managed to get the gallery working, since the Extensions .yml check stated the Gallery was OK, it was just the addons :)

Maybe I will wait a while to update my other forums to see if the authors update their extensions

The extension does show you what the problem is with those files and how to fix them yourself.
