signature to 1 group

Post by Maclobster »

Hi all

Is it possible to set signature for 1 group?
+
Is it possible to disable signature for all groups, and set this by ACP only and it will be visible for all users?

regards Mac

Do you mean assigning a specific signature to a group?
If that is the case what happens when a user is member of more than one group? Default group?

If you disable signatures, a signature won't be shown.
Or are you talking about not allowing users edit a signature but having the admin assign signatures per group/user (again Default group?)

If the above is more or less what you want, an extension would be needed.
We should embrace problems, without which there wouldn't be any solutions.

It could be done with SQL, something like:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_sig = 'some signature' where user_id IN(SELECT user_id FROM phpbb_user_group WHERE group_id = X)
That would give the same signature to all users in group_id X (regardless of whatever other groups they were in). If you wanted to not have that happen if they were in another specified group:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_sig = 'some signature' where user_id IN(SELECT user_id FROM phpbb_user_group WHERE group_id = X AND group_id != Y)
You would have to run that after a user was added to the group.

What is the end result you are trying to achieve, without regard to how you think it might be achieved?

Hello thank you for the feedback

My goal is : ( maybe im a to little oldschool about this with clan and gaming idea)

- Greating forum/website challenge, so they can earn signature with the challenge or a Admin can give a special sign, that all users can see, like a special donation like this

Image

But in small version

what y ou are describing is more like a "rank" with a rank image.

you can also assign a rank to a group and whoever you put in that group will have that rank with that rank image etc.

This extension may be of help - https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... ial_ranks/
I understand, thank you for feedback, i have this ext installed and it has it limit
Like my old website we like to have more ranks
The reason is we have different functions in our clan example my profile :

First image:
1 ''clanleader''
2 Serveradmin ( admins who monitor the server to keep it nice, clean and remove cheaters/ ''hackers'' from the gameserver)
3 Official Streaming Admin/Member of Anti Cheat ACI (anticheatinc)
4 Donator
5 Just a fun ribbon how many years connected with our clan

Second image:
A user with Ranks like :
- Member
- ServerAdmin
- Years ribbon
- Premium Donator
- sparklename, with a little crown behind his name ( meaning he has donated alot of donation at once, so his reward is specialname+crown+Premium Rank for 1 year) Not much but we like to show our appriciation for his support

Dont get me wrong about this, we have a great website right now, its all build-in, drag/drop/past modules everywhere on pages, Html/Css/Java support build in, place code and click enter, easy and alot of function, you need alot of work to have that on phpbb, what would be possible ofcourse, the downside is the price monthly, right now we like to build our own website with phpbb, because the support of this website is going to die, the devs are moving on other project and websitesupport is preyty dead

our old website https://www.rebelrangers.com
