Hi

Like this :
  • Download the full package of the latest version
  • Unzip the archive on the desktop and open the folder phpBB3.
  • Delete the file from the archive config.php directory as well as the /images- /store- /files and /ext.
  • From the forum, go to the administration panel then in " Général --> Configuration du forum". Make sure that Prosilver is set as the default style .
  • Using an FTP client, delete the directories /vendor and /cache the root of your forum.
  • Transfer the files and directories from the previously unzipped archive (i.e. the CONTENTS of the / phpBB3 directory) to the forum root on the server via an FTP client, making sure to overwrite any existing files
  • If there are files install_config.php, * .lock ou migration * in the folder /store, delete them.
Now start the update wizard by pointing the browser to the " install" directory .
Choose the update tab and follow the instructions.

Did you disable all of your extensions?

Not at all
I updated a forum hosted by OVH without deactivating extensions, no problem.
And then another hosted at Planet Hoster, there error message.

With the forum hosted at Planet Hoster I tried by disabling the extensions, same error message.

Hi
The error speaks of notification, on the forum I had installed an extension for Lavigor web push notifications. This extension has never worked, probably the problem is.
I will try the update again to verify.

EDIT

Same problem
