(SOLVED)Missing Text in Admin Control Panel After Update

Post by rockedge »

After updating from phpBB 3.3.0 to 3.3.1 the board forum.puppylinux.com is missing in 2 areas the text explaining the form field's function. Update was performed using the Automatic Method although the file replacement method could have been used as well.

What can I do to repair this? Otherwise the board is functioning as expected.

Hi
The only reliable way to update a forum is to use the full package, and avoid automatic updates.
Sorry for my English ... I do my best!

Yes we understand. Too late it's done.

So, can we manually replace some files from the Admin Control Panel to repair it OR should we run an entire update manually again?
The automatic update was performed due to earlier modifications, which completed successfully. The same process was performed on the board weedoglinux.rockedge.org which also completed successfully and this problem does not occur.

at this time American English is the default although I have reverted back to British English and the text is still missing. There is also another admin control panel page which is showing the placeholder variable.

Try to re-upload all the language packages you are using.

Check if all other phpBB core files are up to date and existing.

Programs like WinMerge will help you.

Use a fresh 3.3.1 download in one directory and your ftp server download on the other side. Then just compare the whole folder.

Or delete every file except the ones which store custom data (config.php, store, files, images/upload, ext/, styles/) and upload the whole 3.3.1 complete package into the same directory (just without config.php).

Hello Crizzo!

Your advice worked! I downloaded the language packs for 3.3.1 en_us and en uploaded to the site's root and the problem is solved?

Thank you for the help!

Thanks from the Puppy Linux community.
