I don't know why it happens for some of them and not for others. I need all new users to be added to NRU

My money is on that.
People registering using tapatalk. In the settings for that there is an option where you can pick the default group the account goes in to, I reckon that's set for registered users.

This seems a good hint. I've changed it to NRU, let's wait a couple of days and see if it helps.

Easiest way to check is to register accounts yourself then change that default and make another.

I just had another spamer that registered and posted 4 messages directly. How can I check (in the logs, database or any other place) is that a Tapatalk user?

Did you try disabling Tapatalk?

Not part of the issue but you need to enable cookie secure as you’re using https.

Then it would appear that you will have to continue having these problems and possibly more in the future.

Tapatalk creates more problems than it solves and many, including myself, have removed it from their boards.

I'm not even sure if the issue is caused by Tapatalk and would appreciate a way to find it. I changd the setting in Tapatalk and yet I have another user that did not go to NRU. How do I narrow it down?

And what does it prove? I disable tapatalk, no spam accounts created for a day. Does it mean Tapatalk was to blame, or that no spammer actually tried to register in this day?

Disable it for a week, at the end of which you will know one way or the other - but I know what my money would be on.

Register an account yourself through tapatalk and see if you can post. It's easy to set up another email address if you don't have one or turn on the option to allow re-use and then disable it again after.

I have registered a new account through tapatalk and it went straight to NRU. Posts made by this account were pending moderator's approval. All seems legit.

Any ideas how to narrow it down then? We didn't have a new spam account for the last couple of days, but that doesn't prove anything.
